What should I expect?
Through each workshop, we will explore a theme and what that means to each of us and what about it brings us joy.

Come and join a fun, informal group where you get to create a contemporary dance piece together. We will use stories and personal experiences that will help you to create movement based on a set theme. We will also use props and visual aids to bring the piece to life which will then be performed at the Wycombe Arts Centre.
Contemporary dance is very fun and freeing. There’s no right or wrong, and no difficult terminology we will use. There will be a lot of imagination and ideas that we will use to create movement together, sometimes as a whole group and sometimes in pairs and individually. All with a little help and encouragement from our teachers.
Is this class for you?
This class is suitable for secondary school youth aged 11-16 years, and no previous dance experience is needed. We welcome those that take dance classes on a regular basis and those who haven’t tried it before but would like to. We believe everyone can be creative. This is a safe and fun environment where we all get to try out different moves and together create something to tell a story.
How to prepare for the class?
You should wear anything that you feel comfortable moving in and that is non-restrictive e.g. leggings, tracksuit bottoms, or workout gear. It’s best if you dance barefoot, but this will depend on the space you will be dancing in, so you may prefer to wear socks or dance shoes such as ballet or jazz shoes. It’s best not to wear skirts or dresses.
Make sure you have water to hand, it’s important to stay hydrated!
